![]() Kicking off the Saturday afternoon of Jazz Week to get us in the mood is this fun trio of Sunshine Coast musicians who love playing great ‘classic’ songs, from all eras. “From Frank to Hank” means you’ll hear everything from Bossa Nova to Blues, and Crooners to Country. Kevin Crofton on guitar and vocals is a witty, entertaining guy with a big voice, developed from years as an actor and musician. Graham Walker, local children's music recording artist, brings his songwriter’s sense to the drum kit, playing softer grooves that fill out the bands very tight rhythmic style. Andy Amanovich is a jazz guitarist switching to bass for this trio. A fun, entertaining band that’s a local favourite! |

His groovy trio featuring Mike Ardagh on drums and Gavin Youngash on bass plays original tunes as well as funky standards with a highlight on soulful groove, conversational improvisation and sophisticated harmony. |

![]() Meet the powerhouse Brooks Secondary Jazz Band, which comprises 35 vibrant, committed, and enthusiastic Powell River students from grades 10 to 12. Eager to explore the realms of jazz, they bring boundless energy and dedication to every performance. With an annual tradition of touring acrossthe Pacific Northwest, this band spreads the joy of jazz far and wide, captivating audiences wherever they go. A recent cultural odyssey in Havana, Cuba, provided a fruitful cross-cultural exchange. Collaborating with Cuban students at esteemed provincial and national music schools, they shared the universal language of music, forging connections that transcend borders. As proud ambassadors of jazz, they made their mark as a host ensemble in Powell River’s Townsite Jazz Festival, 2024. ![]() Adam Thomas is a JUNO Nominated performer from Vancouver. He was introduced in the US as the feature vocalist and bassist of the critically acclaimed Dan Brubeck Quartet who in 2018 also played the Gibsons Jazz Fest 2018. His 2018 self-titled debut album spent 12 weeks in the top 50 of R&B and Soul radio charts for Roots Music Report. Adam has assembled a very special band unique for this event. He will be joined by celebrated Canadian musical performers Randall Stoll on drums (K.D. Lang, Tom Cochrane, Soulstream), Chris Gestrin on keys (K-OS, Randy Bachman, Colin James, Soulstream) as well as Graham Ord on sax (Hard Rubber Orchestra, The NOW Orchestra) and local Coast phenom, Mike Agranovich, on bass. This dance will be a feel-good, funky and soulful event meant to put a smile on your face and get you dancing (while you’re not distracted by phenomenal musicianship). |
