Jazz Week is back and we are excited to have Sunnycrest Mall host our
opening event. Kicking off the Saturday afternoon of Jazz Week to get us in the mood is this fun trio of Sunshine Coast musicians who love playing great ‘classic’ songs, from all eras. “From Frank to Hank” means you’ll hear everything from Bossa Nova to Blues, and Crooners to Country. Kevin Crofton on guitar and vocals is a witty, entertaining guy with a big voice, developed from years as an actor and musician. Graham Walker, local children's music recording artist, brings his songwriter’s sense to the drum kit, playing softer grooves that fill out the bands very tight rhythmic style. Andy Amanovich is a jazz guitarist switching to bass for this trio. A fun, entertaining band that’s a local favourite! |

Exciting news! This year, we're opening the stage to youth and emerging
artists for an Open Mic Night. Come witness the talent and creativity
of our future live musicians! With the amazing Scotty Collison of Coastal Hosts & Entertainment as host it should be a night of new musical discoveries and a whole lot of fun. The evening will showcase up to 16 groups, either individuals or small groups. Each will play a 15 minute set. There's sure to be some emerging stars.. and with Scotty hosting the night, you'll be in for an unforgettably entertaining night! This year we are excited to have Banditry Cider host an event for the
even younger set at their beautiful location for a Sunday afternoon of
live music. Graham Walker will be jazzing up his Children's show, including Croaky the Crow - and his friends the Jazzy Barn Cats: Kaia Nielsen on bass, and Heidi Kurz, flute and harp. Bring the whole family (dog friendly too), grab some refreshments, yummy treats and enjoy the outdoor vibes at this very special Cidery in the neighbourhood. |

Graves - a Sunshine Coast passionate and fiery jazz flautist, sax
player, composer and vocalist. She has played with the who's who of BC
Jazz Artists. While playing in the Banff Jazz orchestra under the direction
of Hugh Fraser, Karen studied and played with Slide Hampton, Maynard Ferguson,
and many others. Joining Karen on stage will be Budge Schachte, guitar; Dan Howard, bass and Mike Ardagh, drums. |

The Roberts Creek Legion presents a weekly
Thursday night Dinner and Jazz music night providing a perfect place for
local jazz fans and performers to get together and listen to some amazing
tunes. During 'Jazz Week' Mike Agranovich an up and coming guitarist and composer originally from Vancouver, but is now living on the Sunshine Coast. He has shared the stage with a diverse array of artists including Tonye Aganaba, Steve Turre, David Braid, David Liebman, and Ken Boothe. His groovy trio featuring Mike Ardagh on drums and Gavin Youngash on bass plays original tunes as well as funky standards with a highlight on soulful groove, conversational improvisation and sophisticated harmony. |

Opening the 28th annual Gibsons Landing Jazz
Festival and BEYOND weekend this year is Vancouver / Sunshine Coast based
quintet Mimosa who
draws on Jazz, Brazilian Sambas, French 60s pop and Cabaret music to concoct
its own unique sound: gorgeous melodies, quirky lyrics, incredible groove
and sky-high improvisations. Mimosa’s music is composed by the three women of the group, Anna Lumiere, piano / vocals; Rebecca Shoichet, vocals; Karen Graves, sax / flute / vocals. Joining them is Conrad Good, bass; and Berni Arai on drums and special guest Heather Anderson on trumpet. Although every member of Mimosa is also active on the Canadian music scene in many other groups, the band has been together for almost two decades and has developed a unique performance that will take you on an unforgettable journey into time and sound. |

A perfect way to start the day on the beautiful Hackett Park stage is
to celebrate the next generation of musicians all the way from Powell
River / qathet. We are excited to hear what kind of jazz energy these
young players will bring to us. Meet the powerhouse Brooks Secondary Jazz Band, which comprises 35 vibrant, committed, and enthusiastic Powell River students from grades 10 to 12. Eager to explore the realms of jazz, they bring boundless energy and dedication to every performance. With an annual tradition of touring acrossthe Pacific Northwest, this band spreads the joy of jazz far and wide, captivating audiences wherever they go. A recent cultural odyssey in Havana, Cuba, provided a fruitful cross-cultural exchange. Collaborating with Cuban students at esteemed provincial and national music schools, they shared the universal language of music, forging connections that transcend borders. As proud ambassadors of jazz, they made their mark as a host ensemble in Powell River’s Townsite Jazz Festival, 2024. Camaro 67 brings together classic Afrobeat influences (Fela Kuti, Tony Allen), and modern Afrofunk / Groove sounds (Antibalas, Budos Band, The Herbaliser) to produce a propulsive, high-energy, made-in-Vancouver heavy funk experience. This explosive 9-piece instrumental group debuted in the fall of 2015. The band has been featured at festivals throughout BC including the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Celebration of Light, and so much more. We are so excited to have Adam Thomas back for a hot night of serious
funk at the infamous good times Gibsons Legion. Adam Thomas is a JUNO Nominated performer from Vancouver. He was introduced in the US as the feature vocalist and bassist of the critically acclaimed Dan Brubeck Quartet who in 2018 also played the Gibsons Jazz Fest 2018. His 2018 self-titled debut album spent 12 weeks in the top 50 of R&B and Soul radio charts for Roots Music Report. Adam has assembled a very special band unique for this event. He will be joined by celebrated Canadian musical performers Randall Stoll on drums (K.D. Lang, Tom Cochrane, Soulstream), Chris Gestrin on keys (K-OS, Randy Bachman, Colin James, Soulstream) as well as Graham Ord on sax (Hard Rubber Orchestra, The NOW Orchestra) and local Coast phenom, Mike Agranovich, on bass. This dance will be a feel-good, funky and soulful event meant to put a smile on your face and get you dancing (while you’re not distracted by phenomenal musicianship). |

Sunshine Coast Vocalist Trudi Diening will entertain us with her rich vocals and eclectic tunes in this beautiful venue to start the final day of the Festival. Joining Trudi is Miles Black on Piano, guitar and vocals. Miles is a highly respected career musician from Vancouver and brings an enormous wealth of musical experience and expertise to every facet of the music Industry and is a favourite on the Sunshine Coast. |

to start the afternoon with a little bit of the the Wanda Nowicki Quintet
to get you in the spirit of a day of live music with family and friends
in Winegarden Park overlooking the stunning view of Gibsons Harbour. Bring
your lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas and sun screen, lay back and take
it all in. Wanda Nowicki Wanda Nowicki has been entertaining coast audiences for over a decade, but has decades of experience on a huge variety of stages from her years in Los Angeles and her home town of Vancouver. With a unique set list and backed up by Ken Dalgleish on keys, Boyd Norman on bass, Michael Toth on guitar and Tim Enns on drums - Wanda and the band are highly entertaining,delivering a combination of uptempo jazz and some rarely heard gems that will make you smile. |

As a trumpeter, Vince Mai
has appeared on hundreds of recordings for TV, feature films, commercials,
and albums. Versatility is one of his major assets and artists he's shared
the stage or recording studio with include - Sarah McLaughlin, Divine
Brown, Michael Buble, The Powder Blues, Tom Jones, David Clayton Thomas,
David Foster, Phil Dwyer, Don Thompson, The Temptations, Natalie Cole,
Eddie Daniels, Buddy Miles, Robben Ford, Long John Baldry, and many others.
With dozens of album credits, Vince's studio work has also included TV
shows like DaVinci's Inquest, Chris Isaak Show, Lonesome Dove, McGyver,
Ed, Edd, & Eddy and many feature films. Also an award winning composer,
Vince has composed music for feature films, documentaries, TV series,
video games and commercials for TV, radio and internet. Joining Vince will be Tristan Paxton - Guitar, Miles Black on Piano, Berni Arai on drums, Laurence Mollerup on bass. |

Get ready to end the day of music in the Park and get up and dance to
this high energy group returning to our stage after many years and going
strong! Tambura Rasa is a buoyant cultural cross-pollination that fuses contemporary grooves and traditional rhythms into one energetic musical brand of their own. Led by producer Ivan Tucakov, this quartet ensemble weaves a tapestry of sound and dance from The Balkans, Spain, Turkey, Middle East and beyond. Joining Ivan will be Dino DiNicolo - bass, Langston Raymond - trumpet - percussion and Johannes Kroller - violin, mandolin. A perfect way to end the day in the park with an unexpected and diverse melange of styles and a journey into a world of music from around the world. |

The closing event of our festival and our final
celebration of music and fun has become a real people’s favorite:
the Apré
Jazz Jam. Come join us with friends at the 101 Brewhouse for drinks, appies,
or dinner and enjoy even more great music. Hosted by the Peter Van Quartet, with Peter van Deursen on Hammond B3 organ and vocals, Budge Schachte on guitar, Graham Ord on sax, and John Rule on drums. Joining them will be Anna Lumiere on piano and many other surprises. Performers from many of the Festival's shows come by to sit in, and it makes for an unforgettable evening of entertainment and merriment. |
