Jean Pierre Makosso originates from Pointe Noire, Congo-Brazza-Ville. His formal first training was as a teacher, however, conditions were very difficult and he found himself returning to his childhood love of dance and storytelling.
In 1990 the Centre Cultural Francais founded the company Punta Negra, and Jean Pierre worked with producers and choreographers from Belgium, France and Switzerland in workshops and performance developing African culture.
