Join us for an afternoon of fun and stellar entertainment at our Main Stage in Dougall Park, Gibsons. NOTE: we are back at Dougall Park!!! We feature three world class bands, kicking off with Vancouver's one and only Carnival Band (a 12 piece collective of marching band merriment)!

Schedule:

• 11:30 - 12:00 pm: Pre-festival welcoming. The Carnival Band will march from Molly's Reach to the Festival Site, inviting all to come and attend. Come and follow them through the streets to the park.

• 12:00 pm - 12:40 pm: Opening ceremonies -- welcome from the shíshálh Nation, the Mayor Gibsons, and presentation by the shíshálh Youth Soccer Club

• 1:00 - 1:50 pm / Jodi Proznick Quartet (classic jazz) — Jodi Proznick Quartet is led by acclaimed bassist, composer, and educator Jodi Proznick, a four-time JUNO Award nominee and recipient of the Western Canadian Music Award for Jazz Artist of the Year. The quartet itself is a two-time JUNO Award nominee and has also been recognized nationally with Album of the Year and Group of the Year at the National Jazz Awards. Bringing together exceptional musicians, the group is known for its lyrical depth, adventurous interplay, and expressive, deeply engaging performances.

• 2:20 - 3:10 pm / The Georgia Fats Gospel Hour — The Georgia Fats Gospel Hour is the “Gospel” offshoot of the swampy roots music of the Georgia Fats…..the quartet of Joël Fafard (harmonica/vox), Joe Stanton (guitar/vox), Boyd Norman (bass/vox), and Barry Taylor (drums). For this special Jazz Fest performance, the “Fats” will add Peter Van Deursen on keys to perform a set of jumpin’ and shoutin’ original tunes and gospel classics in the vein of Mavis Staples.

With : Joe Stanton - Guitar & Vocals; Joel Fafard - Harmonica & Vocals; Boyd Norman - Bass; Barry Taylor - Drums; and special guest, Peter VanDeursen - Hammond Organ & Keyboards

• 3:40 - 4:30 pm / Yoro Noukoussi & the African Masters. (a 6 piece African groove fest!) — Born in North Benin, Africa , this multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter (and Chief's son of the Waama people) learned the art of storytelling and drumming from his family as they traveled the region sharing their cultural traditions. Now in Canada, Yoro is in great demand as a performer, having mastered the donga (talking drum), kokomba (congas), and djembe. On stage, both solo and with the African Masters, he is a dynamic and mesmerizing performer, drawing you into the sights, sounds, and rhythms of West Africa.
